Everything You Need to Know About Veganuary 2020

Veganism is on the rise, and it’s clear that people are feeling the benefits of a cruelty-free diet. People are finding that once they leave eating animal products and bi-products behind, they feel better about themselves. Most people don’t want to commit their whole lives to the diet, so they are having a trial period with Veganuary. Veganuary 2020 looks set to be the most popular yet, and this is everything you need to know about eating a sustainable diet.

Trying it out

Thousands of people have begun trying Veganuary since it was first introduced in 2014. The founders of the 31-day eating challenge helped to push the idea of eating a cruelty-free diet for a month into the mainstream. Last year it was estimated around a quarter of a million people tried Veganuary, with that number more than likely to increase in 2020.

The reason behind Veganuary is to try and make the world a vegan one. The company works with businesses to increase the number of vegan options for shoppers and diners during January to raise awareness.

The founders want a world where we leave behind the slaughterhouses and animal farms. Farming agriculture is believed to be a leading cause of deforestation, pollution, and climate change, which isn’t sustainable forever. The idea is that the more people switch to veganism, the better it will be for the environment.

How to do Veganuary 2020

The Veganuary website asks people to sign up for 31 days of eating a vegan diet to see how they get on. It comes with a starter kit and a range of recipes to make the transition a bit easier, as well as helpful tips and meal plans. The website even provides links to a host of restaurants that offer great vegan options, so you don’t have to prepare your own food every single day.

Go vegan for Veganuary 2020

Once you make it through January, the hopes of the company are that you will fall in love with the lifestyle and keep it going forever. It might seem like a big step, but if you find you like the lifestyle after a month, then why not keep that going for longer?

Getting corporations onboard

One of the biggest reasons for Veganuary is to change the culture of the corporate world. The more that people are choosing to lead a vegan lifestyle, the more leading companies have to change the way they operate.

Even some of the most popular fast-food burger chains in the country are changing their menus and including vegan options. Supermarkets now have vegan chillers and sections as the movement has really transformed the way the country buys its food.

What you can eat

Several foods need to be cut out for you to lead a vegan lifestyle, and that includes all meats as well as dairy products and eggs. Vegan food products are now readily available in supermarkets, so you don’t have to worry about trying to find something to eat. It couldn’t be easier to become a vegan as the world is growing more and more aware of its benefits.

Some people worry that you won’t get the nutrients from vegan food that you would from meat, but there are plenty of alternatives to sustain a healthy lifestyle. Going vegan for a month will mean giving up most of your favorite treats though, as many cakes and sweets contain animal products in them.

Going vegan has never been more popular, and if you feel like giving it a try, why not begin with Veganuary 2020? Many people who take part in Veganuary find that even if they don’t commit to a full vegan lifestyle, they do reduce the amount of meat they eat. It’s just 31 days of your life, which isn’t really that long at all in the grand scheme of things.
